OUR EXPERTISE

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE.
PRACTICAL CHANGE.

Adoption and care experience can shape how children experience learning, relationships, transitions and belonging. Understanding that matters. Knowing what to do with it matters more.

Eight connected practice areas

What we help schools put into practice

Choose the challenge, not a generic training menu. We tailor the work to your setting and support implementation.

AREA 01

Understanding adoption & care experience

Early experiences, attachment-informed understanding, developmental differences, identity and belonging. Staff learn to ask better questions without treating a child’s history as a diagnosis.

Relevant programme: Understanding the Child
AREA 02

Behaviour, regulation & relationships

Stress responses, co-regulation, predictable boundaries, repair, adult language and consistent responses. Teams agree what adults actually do when things become difficult.

Relevant programme: Beyond Behaviour
AREA 03

The adoption-aware classroom

Teaching and learning, transitions, routines, emotional safety, assessment and participation. Practical adjustments that retain ambition and expectations.

Relevant programme: The Adoption-Aware Classroom
AREA 04

Life story, identity & belonging

Family trees, baby photographs, birthdays, curriculum choices, confidentiality, cultural identity and sensitive dates. Inclusive practice without asking children to explain their personal histories.

Relevant programme: Every Child Has a Story
AREA 05

Working with parents & carers

Home–school differences, masking, listening to family perspectives, communicating concerns, shared planning and reviewing actions without blame.

Relevant programme: Across the Gate
AREA 06

Teacher & TA coaching

Case reflection, classroom problem-solving, shared adult responses, short trials and structured review. Education practice coaching, not therapy or assessment.

Relevant programme: Classroom Practice Coaching
AREA 07

Whole-school implementation

Leadership ownership, designated teacher roles, policy alignment, induction, transitions, safeguarding interfaces and monitoring agreed changes.

Relevant programme: Beyond Awareness
AREA 08

Trusts, Virtual Schools & RAAs

Shared principles across settings, local adaptation, co-developed resources, school-level support, evaluation and proportionate commissioner reporting.

Relevant programme: Commissioned Partnerships

THE BRAYTHORPE PRACTICE CYCLE

WE DON’T DELIVER TRAINING AND DISAPPEAR.

A useful session is a starting point, not the finish line. Every commissioned development programme includes a defined level of preparation and follow-up.

BEFORE

Understand

Scope the challenge, hear from leaders and staff, and select real scenarios.

DURING

Agree the practice

Develop shared responses and identify a small number of changes to trial.

AFTER

Review and embed

Return to what was tried, what got in the way and what happens next. The depth of support is agreed in the proposal.

Clear professional boundaries

Braythorpe provides educational consultancy, staff development, classroom coaching and implementation support. We do not provide therapy, psychological diagnosis, therapeutic life-story work or legal representation. We collaborate with the appropriate professionals where needs extend beyond educational practice.
